Theo Tran: The Freestyler
Theo was introduced to dancing when he was seven by his cousin. His cousin would do flares in the living room and teach different types of dance moves to Theo and his family. It was a way for the whole family to bond together. When Theo got into high school, he wanted to explore the world of dancing, so he decided to take it more seriously throughout his learning years. In high school he did urban choreography and he wanted to start dabbling in the art of freestyle.
Theo explained that there are different street styles have a different "fundamental grove." He dances with a "hip hop jack" style, which is close to party dances and clubbing. He would categorize his dancing under popping and isolation, but still with a main focus of hip hop and new jack. Theo views his talent as a hobby rather than a future career goal. He does not want to intertwine that things that he is passionate about the more extrinsic something becomes and the more monetary value it receives, the less likely he will be able to keep that same passion he feels for it now.

Kelly Casterline: The Thrift Store Shopper
Kelly has been thrift store shopping for about the past six years. She started at the thrift stores in the Orange County and gradually moved to the hole in the wall thrift stores in Los Angeles. Though she started to thrift shop for fun in the beginning, she ended up seeing the opportunity to make money. She goes to stores to resales the clothes and other items she has picked up at the different stores for a higher price to gain profit. Kelly explained the process she goes through whenever she goes searching for best items in the stores. She says that she has a whole system where she will go through every piece of clothing and every item in the store in about two hours. From there she will make her selections. She said that in the last three months she has made a profit of one thousand dollars. If that's not a talent, I don't know what it!
Thrift shopping has not only become a talent into a hustle, but it has also changed her whole sense of style. The outfit she was wearing when I spoke with her was a total of twenty-four dollars. She likes back at the 70's and 90's as her fashion inspiration. She was inspired to start selling clothes by Nastygal. This talent has motivated Kelly to start a blog and a Youtube channel where she can talk about her thrift shopping and lifestyle.

Julia Poncedeleon: The Dancer
Julia's talent is being a competitive dancer. She has been dancing since she was two years old. Dancing has been her whole life. To Kelly dancing is art. She had been apart of a competitive team named PACE Elite. On this team she went to Worlds to compete. Worlds is a big competition where teams all around the world come to compete. Kelly and her team won Worlds and gotten first place three times together which is a major accomplishment. Winning worlds is not easy to do. It takes a lot of practices. A lot of 5AM and midnight practices. A day of Kelly when she was on PACE Elite was starting her first practice at 5AM - 7AM and then going to school and then having to go back to practice at nighttime.
Though competitive dancing may be stressful in both practice and real competitions it is all apart of the journey that she loves. She enjoys being apart of a team. She does not like to slack, she works hard for herself and her team. After high school, she joined the team at Orange Coast College to continue her competitive dancing career. Now she is a dance major at CSUF. She hopes she can dance for a pro team one day in the future.
Watch her compete on the PACE Elite team.
